NBI files raps vs 5 ‘Salisi gang’ members
MANILA, Philippines - The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) yesterday filed a complaint for theft against five members of the “Salisi gang” who allegedly robbed an Indian businessman of around P650,000 in cash and valuables last month.
Alleged ring leader Wilson Daman was charged before the Makati City prosecutor’s office along with his cohorts Jayson Avilla, Joseph Feliciano, Edna Genon and Evelyn Mendoza.
Authorities have launched a manhunt for the five.
The complainant, who is also a doctor, said he was victimized by the suspects at a hotel in Makati City on May 11.
The victim said he was with his Indian business partners at the hotel lobby when he lost his bag containing $9,000, P200,000 in cash, a tablet as well as passport and other documents.
Closed-circuit television footage showed that the suspects fled in a white Toyota Fortuner at the hotel’s parking lot.
According to the NBI, the suspects had been previously arrested for victimizing two Koreans in Angeles City, Pampanga.
They were released from detention after posting bail of P24,000 each.
