MANILA, Philippines - After some airlines banned the use of the Samsung Galaxy Note 7 during flights, the Civil Aviation Authority of the Philippines yesterday called on all operators to prohibit passengers from using the tablet in airport premises and inside aircrafts.
“In light of the official announcement by Samsung to recall and voluntarily replace all Galaxy Note 7 devices already sold to the public due to reported incidents of exploding and catching fire, the (CAAP) strongly encourages all operators to advise passengers not to turn on or charge these devices while inside airport premises or on board the aircrafts,” CAAP Advisory Circular 1, series of 2016, read.
The airport authority also urged airlines to require passengers not to stow the device in check-in baggage and instead carry it with them so any accident can be immediately resolved.
