4 more suspects killed in drug war
MANILA, Philippines - Four more people allegedly involved in illegal drugs were killed in separate incidents in Metro Manila on Saturday night.
In Manila, suspected drug pusher Reynaldo Razon, 39, was killed after he allegedly traded shots with police along Juan Luna street in Tondo at around 10:25 p.m.
Police Officer 3 Marlon San Pedro said members of the Manila Police District Station 7 led by Chief Inspector Manny Israel staged a sting against Razon, who was included in the MPD drug watchlist.
San Pedro said PO2 Avril Paul Marfil managed to transact a drug deal with Razon.
Sensing that he was dealing with a police officer, Razon allegedly fired at Marfil but missed, prompting police to shoot him.
Razon died at the scene. His alleged cohorts Ma. Teresa Joy Ramirez, 19; Mark Dizon, 21; Marlon Gonzales, 42, and Romeo Malunes, 46, were held for questioning.
Probers said they recovered a caliber .45 pistol, four sachets of shabu, drug paraphernalia and the marked money from Razon.
Another drug suspect, Eduardo Salanova, was killed in a police operation along Gonzales street in Pandacan.
Police described Salanova as a known drug pusher in the area.
PO3 Dennis Turla said Salanova was killed in an alleged shootout.
In Caloocan City, two men were shot dead by uidentified assailants in what police said were drug-related incidents.
Berdado Veliganio, 37, was standing along Langaray street when three armed men arrived and shot him repeatedly.
Veliganio died at the scene. He allegedly yielded a sachet of shabu.
Daniel Albano, 27, was talking to his friends along Santo Cristo street in Barangay 187, Tala when two men wearing bonnets appeared and fired at him.
Bystanders rushed Albano to the Tala Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.
Senior Inspector Ilustre Mendoza, Caloocan police chief investigator, said they were verifying reports that Albano and Veliganio were involved in drug deals.
