78 towing firm workers fail MMDA drug test

Perseus Echeminada - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - At least 78 workers from various towing companies in Metro Manila failed the regular mandatory drug testing by the Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA), an official said yesterday.

MMDA towing and impounding chief Victor Nuñez said most of those who failed the drug test – conducted from May 2015 to January this year – used shabu.

He said the workers who tested positive for illegal drugs were dismissed by their employers.

Nuñez also reported that last year, the MMDA suspended the accreditation of at least 10 towing firms that were the subject of various complaints from motorists.

Aside from regular drug testing, the MMDA also subjects tow trucks to smoke emission tests.
