15 families homeless in Manila fire
MANILA, Philippines - At least 15 families were left homeless when a fire broke out at a residential area in Sta. Ana, Manila yesterday.
Arson probers said the fire started in a three-story apartment along Road 4, Barangay 903 in Punta at past 10 a.m.
The blaze reached the third alarm before it was put out at 10:58 a.m.
No one was reported injured in the fire believed to be caused by faulty electrical wiring.
Damage to property was placed at P30,000.
Mayor Joseph Estrada ordered the Manila Department of Social Welfare to provide assistance to the affected families.
Estrada also lauded the quick response of the city fire department.
The mayor has allocated P1 billion to modernize the city’s rescue and emergency services.
