DPWH exec wants plunder case resolved
MANILA, Philippines - Hoping to clear his name, a Department of Public Works and Highways (DPWH) official has asked the Office of the Ombudsman to resolve a plunder and graft case filed against him over a supposed road project anomaly in Masbate.
Undersecretary for regional operations Romeo Momo said the complainants in the case have cleared him of liability through an affidavit of desistance.
In a letter to Ombudsman Conchita Carpio-Morales dated Feb. 16, he said he was a victim of baseless and malicious accusations.
The charges lodged against him along with other DPWH officials and a private contractor stems from alleged irregularities in the rehabilitation, improvement and re-asphalting and concreting of a 27-kilometer road in southern Masbate.
Momo said the complainants had already sent a letter to President Aquino clearing him of the charges because they verified that he had nothing to do with the project.
