PNP: No leads on narco-generals

Bebot Sison Jr., Cecille Suerte Felipe - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine National Police (PNP) has no information yet on the alleged involvement of police generals in the operation of illegal drug syndicates, as claimed by presidential aspirant Davao City Mayor Rodrigo Duterte.

PNP chief Director General Ricardo Marquez said the police would not tolerate any of its members getting involved in criminal activities.

“The PNP does not tolerate any member of the organization who violates the law, as he is not worthy to wear our uniform and should be removed from our ranks. In fact, one of the most important pillars of our anti-drug strategy is internal cleansing,” said Marquez.

He also appealed to the public to help the PNP in its effort to cleanse the organization of scalawags by reporting misdeeds of any of its members.

Duterte, who is running for president in the coming May 2016 polls claimed that many police generals in Metro Manila are involved in illegal drugs but did not name names.
