MANILA, Philippines – A 12-hour maintenance work on the Light Rail Transit (LRT) Line 2 limited its operations and affected commuters yesterday morning.
Limited operations from V. Mapa station in Manila to Santolan station in Quezon City started at 5 a.m. after the signaling system detected a technical problem between Recto and Legarda stations, Hernando Cabrera, spokesman for the LRT 2, said.
Cabrera said the engineering team started the repair at around 12:30 a.m.
He said the work was not finished on time due to an unexpected delay and had to overlap with the operating hours of the railway system.
“We had to extend the repair works until 11:20 a.m.,” Cabrera said in a radio interview.
He said full operations of the LRT 2 resumed before noon.
Cabrera said the LRT management provided a shuttle service to the affected commuters.
