PNP, MTRCB hit teleserye for striptease

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine National Police will coordinate with the Movie and Television Review and Classification Board to take action on an ABS-CBN television series that featured an actor in a police uniform doing a striptease.

“The PNP will write the MTRCB a letter on the episode. The PNP uniform cannot be used just like that, especially if it is degrading and does not reflect a policeman’s work and duties,” Chief Superintendent Wilben Mayor, PNP spokesperson, said.

In an episode of “On the Wings of Love” aired on Monday, actor James Reid, clad in a police uniform, performed a striptease during a bridal shower for his future wife, played by actress Nadine Lustre.

The uniform used in the episode was that of a PNP general’s office attire, with badges from the Quezon City Police District and the rank of Senior Police Officer 4.

Mayor said the PNP also appealed to producers of television shows and movies to be conscientious when using police uniforms.

“It does not mirror a policeman’s duty. The PNP uniform is sacred to policemen and policewomen,” he said.
