Vendor killed by cargo truck

MANILA, Philippines - A 50-year-old mineral water vendor died after she was run over and dragged several meters by a cargo truck in Manila on Wednesday night.

Josefina Gadjani, of Batasan Hills, Quezon City, was selling mineral water when she was hit by the truck with license plate RMU 208 driven by Allan Laggui.

The 15-ton truck made a left turn on P. Burgos Street from Bonifacio Drive past 11 p.m.

Authorities said the victim was pinned between the four tires of the truck and she was dragged for several meters.

Laggui, who surrendered after the incident, said he did not notice that he hit somebody when he made a left turn.

A relative of the victim said she saw Gadjani drinking liquor minutes before the accident.
