MANILA, Philippines - A pedicab driver and his one-month-old baby were killed and a bystander was injured when two gunmen fired at them in Malabon City last Wednesday night.

Ernesto Serrano, 25, of Dr. Lascano Street, Barangay Tugatog, was walking along Concepcion Street carrying his daughter Princess Ayesha at around 6 p.m. when he saw two armed men approaching him.

Fearing for his life, Serrano, who was still clutching his baby, ran towards Dr. Lascano Street but the gunmen chased him and cornered him a few meters from his house.

The gunmen fired several times, hitting Serrano and his baby, while a stray bullet hit and injured a bystander identified as Alfredo Reyes.

Serrano died on the spot while Princess was rushed to the Pagamutang Bayan ng Malabon but she died of a gunshot wound in the chest.

Reyes, on the other hand, was taken to the Tondo Medical Center, where he is now confined.
