Pinoy in Guam sorry for viral shooting video
MANILA, Philippines – Saying it was an old video that was accidentally uploaded online, a Guam-based Filipino has apologized after receiving criticisms over a viral video showing him and his friends indiscriminately firing guns during the New Year’s Eve revelry.
Edgardo Quinit, a native of Pangasinan, told local television network KUAM-TV the video was taken in 2014.
Quinit said he did not intend to upload the video on social media.
He said he was learning to operate his new mobile phone but accidentally uploaded the video on Facebook.
“Because of lack of knowledge in operating high-tech gadgets, I made a mistake. I want to apologize to those who have seen the video,” he said.
Quinit, who is based in Guam’s northernmost village of Yigo, believes that he did not violate any law.
“I am a law-abiding citizen. I’m not a violent person. I respect the law. I’m just exercising my right to bear arms as a US citizen,” he said.
Media entities in Guam reported the police have initiated an investigation after the video went viral online.
The Philippine National Police earlier said it would coordinate with the Interpol in investigating the shooting video.
