Ramil Bajo, Rey Galupo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Four persons were injured when a man crashed the passenger jeepney he tried to steal into another vehicle in Manila yesterday morning.

Police said Jaypee Linsangan, 23, was driving a passenger jeepney when it hit a jeepney driven by Romeo Pariente.

Pariente, 59; pedestrian Joselito Dechave, 36; and two of Pariente’s passengers were hurt in the accident. They were taken to the National Orthopedic Hospital for treatment.

Linsangan escaped being mobbed by irate residents when members of the Manila Police District Station 3 arrived at the scene.

Police said Allan Villanueva parked his jeepney (TVJ-484) with the key still in the ignition at the corner of Felix Huertas street and Quezon Boulevard Extension at around 10:45 a.m. to eat at a canteen.

After seeing Villanueva forget the key, Linsangan got into the driver’s seat and sped away, but crashed into another vehicle and hit Dechave, who was walking by.
