Ex-MPD official’s car found in Ilocos
MANILA, Philippines - Police officers are on the trail of the man who allegedly killed a retired Manila Police District (MPD) official after the victim’s sport utility vehicle was found abandoned along the highway in Barangay Camangaan in Vigan, Ilocos Sur Wednesday morning.
Retired Chief Superintendent Cipriano Herrera, 77, former commander of MPD Station 3, died from six stab wounds at the Metropolitan Hospital before dawn Sunday, Senior Police Officer 2 Charles John Duran said.
Herrera was a professor at the Manuel L. Quezon University. His black Ford Everest (ACA-1925) was discovered by Mario Quilaan, who notified the local police, Senior Police Officer 4 Richard Lumban of the MPD’s homicide investigation section said.
He said Allan Liwanag, Herrera’s former driver, allegedly took the vehicle’s battery and accessories before abandoning the vehicle. Several persons reportedly fetched him from the area.
Herrera reportedly fired Liwanag for being a drug user.
