Man held for indiscriminate firing in Muntinlupa
MANILA, Philippines - A man was arrested for indiscriminately firing his gun in Muntinlupa City over the weekend, a police official said yesterday.
Ryan Alcantara yielded a .45 caliber pistol and a magazine with six bullets, said National Capital Region Police Office chief Director Joel Pagdilao.
Pagdilao ordered the filing of charges of alarm and scandal, grave threats and illegal possession of firearms against Alcantara.
Reports said the residents of Purok 8, Bautista Compound in Barangay Alabang were having their Christmas party when Alcantara ran amuck armed with a gun at around 5 p.m. Saturday.
Witnesses said the suspect pointed his firearm at Shermine Broa.
While leaving the area, Alcantara pointed his gun at Moriel Sarmiento and used her as a human shield, police said.
Alcantara fired his gun in the air three times. Sarmiento reported the incident to the Police Community Precinct 3.
Responding policemen, headed by a certain PO2 Nolasco, arrested Alcantara.
Alcantara is being held at the Muntinlupa City police jail.
