Fire hits QC slum area

Robertzon Ramirez - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – Ten families were left homeless after a fire broke out at a three-story house in a slum area in Barangay Bahay Toro, Quezon City yesterday afternoon.

Fire marshal Jesus Fernandez said the fire broke out at around 3:35 p.m. at the third floor of Bebang dela Cruz’s house along Congressional Avenue and quickly spread to nearby houses and a warehouse of hydraulic hoses.

He said that Dela Cruz’s daughter, Yssa, was the one who discovered the fire that broke out in her room.

Arson investigators said the fire was caused by faulty wiring.

No one was injured or killed, but the fire destroyed approximately P200,000 worth of property and reached third alarm before it was put out at around 4:25 p.m.
