20 families lose homes in Tondo fire

Ghio Ong - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – At least 20 families were left homeless after a fire razed their houses in Tondo, Manila yesterday.

The blaze, which started at past 1 p.m., gutted 10 houses along Nepomuceno street. It reached third alarm and destroyed P200,000 worth of property before it was put out less than 30 minutes later.

Firefighters said they found it difficult to reach the houses as the passageways were narrow.

The blaze did not affect two dry goods warehouses, which were behind the razed homes.
