Businesswoman loses P.15 M to con men

Robertzon Ramirez - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A 68-year-old businesswoman lost P150,000 to five unidentified con artists in Barangay East Kamias, Quezon City Monday morning, an official said yesterday.

Remedios Silva of Barangay Botocan told police she was walking along Anonas Road when an unidentified man asked her for directions to an address written on a piece of paper, Police Officer 3 Rodolfo Ramos said.

While Silva was talking with the man, two other women joined them and convinced her to help the man until she rode with them in a red van, with another man driving the vehicle.

Ramos said Silva was convinced to withdraw P150,000 and put the money in a paper bag, which the suspects later switched with another bag before dropping her off on Kamias Road.
