MANILA, Philippines - The P452-million runway extension at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport (NAIA) is scheduled to be inaugurated this morning.
The 610-meter extension is meant to decongest runways at NAIA Terminal 3 and facilitate ground handling of aircraft by international airlines.
The construction of the runway extension began in November 2014 and was completed last October, the Manila International Airport Authority’s media affairs division said.
Transportation and Communications Secretary Joseph Emilio Abaya is expected to attend the inauguration as the guest of honor.
