MANILA, Philippines - The Commission on Audit (COA) clarified yesterday that it has not yet completed its special audit of the allegedly overpriced construction of the Makati City Hall Parking Building II.
Director Jonathan Beltran of the audit agency’s Public Information Office said a newspaper report on the supposed findings of the COA was released prematurely.
“The initial findings of the special audit team are confidential in nature,” Beltran said.
“The COA findings quoted in a newspaper report are still subject to comments of officials concerned. As part of the audit process, the comments shall be incorporated in the final audit report,” he added.
The investigation by the ombudsman on the Makati parking building resulted in the dismissal from public office of Mayor Jejomar Erwin “Junjun” Binay Jr.
Earlier, the anti-graft agency said it has found probable cause to charge Binay and 22 other city officials for the anomalous construction of the parking building.
