EPD forms team to probe road rage killing
MANILA, Philippines - The Eastern Police District (EPD) created yesterday a special team to investigate the road rage killing of a driver in Pasig City Thursday.
EPD director Chief Superintendent Elmer Jamias said they are still coordinating with the Land Transportation Office to determine whether the registered owner of a black Toyota Innova (plate number APA 9824) is the same man who shot dead Richard Tuazon, 37, along the Rosario Bridge.
The slugs recovered at the crime scene are being subjected to ballistics tests and checked against bullets recovered in other shootings in Pasig City and nearby areas, he added.
Jamias said they are asking owners of establishments near the crime scene for videos of the incident.
The probe team will be headed by Senior Superintendent Edwin de Ocampo, the EPD’s deputy chief for operations.
Witnesses claimed the gunman got out of the Toyota Innova, approached Tuazon and shot him.
Tuazon sustained multiple gunshot wounds in the head. He died while being rushed to the nearby hospital.
Police said Tuazon was driving a Mitsubishi L300 van (URG 714) and was about to deliver some items to Quezon City when the gunman shot him at about 11:50 a.m. Thursday.
