Bus robber shot by policewoman
MANILA, Philippines - An alleged member of the Commando gang was wounded when he was shot by a policewoman shortly after he held up bus passengers in Quezon City Tuesday night.
Juanito Arsenio, 39, was shot by Police Officer 1 Judy Anne de Villa, case investigator PO3 Marlon de la Vega of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit said.
Reports said De Villa was on the bus on her way home to Navotas City at around 11:25 p.m. when Arsenio boarded the vehicle along Banahaw street in Barangay San Martin de Pores.
Armed with a .22-caliber pistol, the suspect declared a heist and forcibly took the bag of one of the bus passengers.
De Villa was in her police uniform.
She said she was forced to shoot Arsenio when she sensed that her life was in danger.
De Villa seized Arsenio’s gun loaded with five bullets before she reported the incident to the Cubao police station.
The suspect was brought to the Quirino Memorial Medical Center for treatment.
Arsenio, who is being held at the QCPD detention cell, will be charged with robbery and illegal possession of firearm and ammunition before the Quezon City prosecutor’s office.
