MANILA, Philippines – The Movie Television Review and Classification Board (MTRCB) has begun investigating erring deputies and initiated criminal proceedings against persons impersonating deputies.
“The MTRCB has fortified its resolve to strengthen, rationalize and improve its system of appointing deputies,” the board said in a statement issued Friday.
The MTRCB also said that as of Oct. 15, at least 70 percent of its deputies have submitted their monitoring reports regarding movies shown in cinemas, particularly in Metro Manila.
The board issued the statement in response to a Commission on Audit report that MTRCB deputies who were given the privilege of free access to movie houses have not been filing reports.
The MTRCB said deputies are only volunteers, not salaried government employees but underwent training in the film and television rating scheme used by the board.
