P-Noy names 2 new DOJ undersecretaries

Edu Punay - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - President Aquino has appointed two new undersecretaries of the Department of Justice (DOJ).

Emmanuel Caparas was named DOJ undersecretary and spokesman for the department.

Prior to his appointment, Caparas was chief regulator of the Metropolitan Waterworks and Sewerage System.

The other new undersecretary is lawyer Wendell Go.

Caparas and Go took over the posts vacated by Jose Vicente Salazar, who was appointed to the Energy Regulatory Commission in August, and Jose Justiniano, who resigned last month.

Another post in the DOJ remains vacant following the resignation of undersecretary Francisco Baraan earlier this month.

Justianiano and Baraan resigned after President Aquino appointed Benjamin Caguioa as justice secretary, replacing Leila de Lima who is running for senator in the 2016 elections.

Assistant Secretary Zabedin Azis was earlier promoted as DOJ undersecretary. Azis took the post of Leah Tanondra-Armamento, who was appointed commissioner of the Commission on Human Rights.
