MANILA, Philippines – Nagkasa ng isang malawakang nationwide transport holiday ang Alliance of Concerned Transport Organizations (ACTO) bilang protesta sa ipatutupad ng Land Transportation Office (LTO) na dagdag requirements sa pagkuha ng bago at re­­ne­wals ng  drivers license.

Ayon kay Efren de Luna, national president ng ACTO handa na ang kanilang ka­sapi sa regional, cities at municipal transport leaders para sa nationwide transport holiday upang ipakita sa gobyerno laluna sa LTO at Department of Transportation and Communications (LTO-DOTC) ang matinding pagtutol ng mga drivers sa ipatutupad na bagong requirements sa pagkuha ng lisensya.

Sa ilalim ng bagong me­morandum ng LTO, ang lahat ng kukuha ng bago at renewals drivers license ay dapat na magdala ng PNP at NBI clearance mula sa dating requirements na medical certificate lamang.

Binigyang diin ni de Luna na matinding pahirap at dagdag gastos lamang sa kanilang mga driver ang ba­gong patakaran ng LTO.

Anya, walang ibang pa­raan ang transport sector kundi maglunsad ng nationwide transport holiday­ upang iparating kina Pa­ngulong Noynoy Aquino­, mga Senador at Kongresista, DOTC Secretary Emilio Joseph Abaya at LTO Chief Alfonso Tan ang matindi nilang pagtutol sa naturang dagdag requirements.
