‘Cop’ tagged in extortion at Camp Crame

Robertzon Ramirez - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A man who claimed to a police officer is the subject of a manhunt by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) for allegedly extorting money and valuables from a jobless woman at the gate of Camp Crame Sunday morning.

Rachelle Anne Valencia, 28, of San Juan City, was driving her motorcycle and had reached Camp Crame’s Gate 2 at around 4 a.m. when she was stopped by a man who introduced himself as “Police Officer 2 Bucasas,” a report of the QCPD Criminal Investigation and Detection Unit (CIDU) stated.

Bucasas allegedly demanded that Valencia turn over her wristwatch and P600 cash or be charged with a traffic violation.

Valencia reported the incident to the San Juan police station. A police officer accompanied Valencia to the CIDU since the incident happened in Quezon City.

An investigator, who requested anonymity, said Valencia’s watch and money were returned to her after they conducted a follow-up investigation.

The investigator said they have yet to determine Bucasas’ identity.
