Girl hurt in Manila gang war
MANILA, Philippines - A 15-year-old girl was hit by a stray bullet when she was caught in the crossfire between two street gangs in Sta. Cruz, Manila before dawn yesterday.
The girl, a resident of M. Hizon street, was treated at the Jose Reyes Memorial Medical Center for a gunshot wound in the right arm.
The girl and four of her friends bought some snacks at a canteen and were walking along Dimasalang street at around 4 a.m. when they chanced upon two gangs of teenagers fighting, Police Officer 2 Allen Andrew Mateo said.
One of the teenagers fired a gun, hitting the victim.
A resident said the two gangs are fighting for control of the streets.
