1 dead, 3 hurt as SUV hits truck

MANILA, Philippines - A motorist died and three of his passengers were injured when his sport utility vehicle (SUV) rammed a trailer truck parked along Roxas Boulevard’s southbound lane near Gil Puyat Avenue in Pasay City before dawn yesterday.

Russel Ombrog was pinned to the driver’s seat of the Mitsubishi Adventure he was driving when a van rear-ended his SUV after it hit the stalled truck near the Gil Puyat Avenue flyover at around 4 a.m.

His passengers – Randy Ampuan, Anet Majarillo and Rommel Ohario – were taken to the San Juan de Dios Hospital.

The accident caused a traffic buildup in the area.

The driver and helper of the stalled trailer truck reportedly escaped after the accident. They reportedly did not set early warning devices along the road when their vehicle stalled, authorities said.
