MANILA, Philippines - The Sandiganbayan has granted lawyer Jessica “Gigi” Reyes’ request that she be allowed to leave her detention cell to undergo dental surgery at a private clinic in Taguig.
In a ruling issued yesterday, the anti-graft court’s Third Division said it is allowing Sen. Juan Ponce Enrile’s former chief of staff to see her dentist, Gary Brillo, whose clinic is in Bonifacio Global City.
The Sandiganbayan said arrangements as to when she will be granted the short furlough will have to be made with the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP).
Third Division clerk of court Dennis Pulma said Reyes will undergo a tooth extraction and dental implantation.
“It will all be at her expense,” he told The STAR, adding that the usual conditions are imposed, including not granting media interviews.
Pulma said Reyes’ dentist and the BJMP’s own dentist were also directed to file a report within five days after the procedure is done.
Reyes was reminded that after surgery, she must immediately return to the Taguig City Jail’s female dormitory in Camp Bagong Diwa.
Reyes Enrile and trader Janet Lim Napoles are among those on trial for plunder and graft for their alleged involvement in the pork barrel fund scam.
