Ateneo player nabbed for domestic violence

MANILA, Philippines - A member of Ateneo de Manila University’s basketball team was arrested by the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) last night after his partner filed a complaint against him.

Chibueze Ikeh was apprehended based on an arrest warrant issued by a Quezon City court for violating Republic Act 9262, a law penalizing violence against women and their children, according to Superintendent Jay Agcaoili, who heads the QCPD’s district special operations unit.

Ikeh is being held at the QCPD criminal investigation and detection unit’s detention facility.

Last month, Ikeh's teammate, John Apacible, was suspended over a viral video that showed him  drunk and introducing himself as a councilor to a motorist who confronted him over his behavior on the road. He has since apologized.
