MANILA, Philippines – Four persons were arrested in a raid on a hotel in Binondo, Manila for allegedly manufacturing fake money Tuesday afternoon.

Edwin Cabaling, 30; Ernani Cabaling, 33; Joel Celo, 33, and Nina Perez, 34, were nabbed when operatives of the Gandara police community precinct raided the Lucky Hotel along Quintin Paredes street at past 3 p.m.

Superintendent Romeo Macapaz, commander of the Manila Police District Station 11, said his men confiscated fake P1,000 and P500 bills during the raid.

The suspects failed to name their mastermind.

A police official said they were checking reports that the fake money would be used in the 2016 elections.

The raiders seized printers, silkscreens, a Samsung notebook and packets of shabu from the suspect, who were charged with violation of Article 168 of the Revised Penal Code and illegal possession of drugs.
