LTO exec still hopeful on license plate deal
MANILA, Philippines – A Land Transportation Office (LTO) official remains optimistic that the Commission on Audit (COA) will lift the notice of disallowance it issued on the license plate deal between the agency and Dutch-Filipino consortium PPI-JKG Philippines Inc.
LTO spokesman Jason Salvador said they are still waiting for the COA’s decision on their appeal after the state auditors ordered them to stop the car plate deal as it violates the procurement law.
In July, state auditors said that there was an irregularity in the advance payment made by the LTO amounting to P477,901,329 for the supply and the delivery of license plates to PPI-JKG in 2014.
Despite of the COA’s notice of disallowance to the car plate deal, the LTO has continued its operation since “a lot of cars will be left with no plates.”
