Glitch stops MRT operations

Robertzon Ramirez - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines – The Metro Rail Transit (MRT) suspended its operations during yesterday morning’s rush hour due to an undetermined technical problem.

The rail line suspended its operation from its Taft Avenue station in Pasay to the Boni station in Mandaluyong starting at around 6 a.m.

An MRT employee, who posted a sign informing commuters about the suspension, refused to provide additional details.

The MRT also limited its operation from its North Avenue station in Quezon City until the Shaw Boulevard station in Mandaluyong City at around 7 a.m.

MRT general manger Roman Buenafe was unavailable for comment and did not respond to text messages or calls.

In a report over radio station dzMM, staff at the Guadalupe station said an MRT train encountered a problem near the station.
