Quezon City to aid Lando-affected areas

Janvic Mateo - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - The Quezon City government will send a 200-man humanitarian mission to help relief and rehabilitation efforts in areas affected by Typhoon Lando.

The contingent, organized by the city’s disaster risk reduction and management council (DRRMC), will be sent to the municipalities of Baler in Aurora, Bambang in Nueva Vizcaya, and San Miguel in Bulacan, which Quezon City adopted.

In addition to relief supplies such as food and medicine, DRRMC action officer Elmo San Diego said the humanitarian mission will also provide technical assistance for the restoration of some government buildings or structures damaged by the typhoon.

San Diego said the city government plans to provide P50 million worth of assistance to each of the adopted municipalities.
