MANILA, Philippines - A security guard of a convenience store in Caloocan City shot an “arrogant” barangay kagawad shortly before noon yesterday.
Barangay 188 councilman Ali Tanduel was brought to the Tala Hospital after he sustained a gunshot wound shortly after he threatened to kill 7-11 security guard Jonathan Dawas, said Barugo police station chief Superintendent Rey Ariza.
Dawas said he was guarding the store’s front door when Tanduel parked his car at the store’s parking area.
When he approached Tanduel and told him the slot was reserved for the store’s customers, Tanduel introduced himself as a barangay official.
Dawas said when he insisted Tanduel park somewhere else, the councilman started cursing at him and threatened to kill him.
“He told me he’ll come back and shoot me if he finds me here,” Dawas told Senior Police Officer 2 Allan Budios.
A police officer who asked not to be named told The STAR that Tanduel is known in his area for being arrogant and hot-headed.
