MANILA, Philippines - A bar bouncer and his companion, mistaking a factory worker for a thief, beat him to death in Pasig City Sunday.

Jeffrey Baradia died while being rushed to the Salve Regina Hospital.

Police officers arrested Mohammad Nawad John Barroga, a bouncer at Padi’s Point bar on Marcos Highway.

Senior Superintendent Jose Hidalgo Jr., Pasig City police chief, ordered a manhunt for Barroga’s companion, identified only as Rey, who escaped after the incident.

Baradia and Rhyan Florendo, both of Barangay Mayamot, Antipolo City, went to the bar at around 10 p.m. Sunday.

After having some drinks, the two men went to the restroom but Barroga and Rey confronted them, accusing Florendo of being a thief.

The suspects beat up Florendo and dragged him out of the bar. They then attacked Baradia when he intervened, beating him until he lost consciousness.

Florendo rushed Baradia to the hospital but the victim was declared dead on arrival.
