MANILA, Philippines – Fifty-four percent of the listed most wanted persons (MWPs) in the country were arrested by the National Capital Region Police Office (NCRPO), an official said Friday.
According to acting NCRPO director Chief Superintendent Joel Pagdilao, the fugitives were arrested in just 14 weeks of intensive police operations, from July 16 to Oct. 9.
Pagdilao said NCRPO tracker teams arrested of 232 of the 440 listed MWPs.
He commended Chief Superintendent Eric Reyes, director of the Northern Police District, for the arrest of all 10 of the NPD’s most wanted persons.
The Philippine National Police’s Directorate for Intelligence identified the 10 MWPs that each of the five police districts and 38 police stations in the NCRPO must neutralize for the third quarter of the year.
According to Pagdilao, the Eastern Police District and Quezon City Police District arrested 52 percent of their targets; Manila Police District, 51 percent; and the Southern Police District, 40 percent.
Among those arrested were Jordan de Vera, Christian Andales and Enrico Paguinto, the number one MWPs of the NPD, Malabon and Marikina, respectively.
Pagdilao encouraged the public to cooperate with police to catch the rest of the fugitives.
