POEA revokes agency’s license

MANILA, Philippines – The Philippine Overseas Employment Administration (POEA) has revoked the license of a recruitment agency for repeatedly submitting fake documents for the deployment of a domestic worker, an official said yesterday.

POEA chief Hans Cacdac said they cancelled the license of Greengate Manpower Services Co. after it was found liable for misrepresentation for the third time.

Cacdac said Greengate deceived the POEA and the worker by submitting documents for processing an OFW as a hospital janitress, when in truth she was contracted to work as a domestic worker in Saudi Arabia.

POEA regulations, Cacdac said, prohibit misrepresentation or the furnishing of false notice, information or document in relation to the recruitment and employment of OFWs.

“Records of the case showed that Greengate deployed the worker as a hospital janitress for its foreign principal, Zahran Maintenance and Operations Co., but she actually worked as a domestic worker for another employer,” he said.
