MANILA, Philippines - A Quezon City policeman was arrested after reportedly snatching a 17-year-old boy’s mobile phone in Valenzuela City Wednesday night.

According to police, Johnric Labadia was standing along the sidewalk of McArthur Highway in Barangay Dalandanan at around 9 p.m. and reading a text message when a man on a motorcycle alighted and grabbed his mobile phone.

Labadia grappled with the suspect while shouting for help. The man repeatedly punched him in the face.

Ronel Labadia, the victim’s older brother, rushed to help his sibling but the man sped away on his white Yamaha Mio.

The brothers reported the incident to the Police Community Precinct 6 personnel, who conducted a follow-up operation and chanced upon the man, later identified as Police Officer 2 Mike Tanguilan, who is assigned to the anti-car theft unit of the Quezon City Police District.
