MANILA, Philippines - Former employees of the Bank of the Philippine Islands (BPI) could be the persons who took P2.4 million from the bank’s automated teller machine (ATM) on Aurora Boulevard Tuesday night, an official of the Quezon City Police District (QCPD) said yesterday.
Inspector Alan Dela Cruz, robbery section chief of the QCPD’s criminal investigation and detention unit, said it appeared that the robbers were knowledgeable about ATMs.
Based on initial reports, the kiosk was destroyed by unidentified persons so technicians would open the ATM.
Dela Cruz said when two technicians were fixing the machine, four robbers wearing crash helmets and surgical masks took the money.
