7 Filipino fishermen rescued in Japan back home

MANILA, Philippines - Seven Filipino fishermen who were rescued off the coast of Japan arrived at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Wednesday night.  

The fishermen, all from Bolinao, Pangasinan, went missing at the height of Tropical Storm Kabayan on Oct. 2.

They were swept away by waves toward Japan after their boat capsized in the waters of Pangasinan.

They were identified as Allan Calegas, 48; Mauricio de los Santos, 57; Loreto Sevilla, 50;  Marvin Cabas-an, 33; Samson Calegas, 51; Robelito de los Santos, 33, and Bernardo Cabas-an.

They were met at the airport by personnel of the Overseas Workers Welfare Administration and Department of Social Welfare and Development.

The fishermen were given medical attention at the Philippine embassy in Tokyo prior to their flight back to Manila.
