Valenzuela fire razes 100 houses

MANILA, Philippines - At least 100 houses were destroyed when a fire of still undetermined origin hit a residential area in Valenzuela City before noon yesterday.

Fire Inspector Valerio Banayao of the Valenzuela Bureau of Fire Protection (BFP) said the blaze started at past 10 a.m. at the house owned by a certain Daning and rented by Danny Grande along Abalos street in Barangay Marulas.

The blaze quickly spread to the adjoining houses, most of which were made of light materials.

The BFP said at least P2 million worth of properties were destroyed in the fire that was put under control at past 1 p.m.
