OFW sues boyfriend for stealing, losing P.3 M in casino
MANILA, Philippines - An overseas Filipino worker had her boyfriend thrown in jail after he reportedly stole P300,000 from her on Thursday and lost it all at a casino within hours.
Gigi Kimura told police the money, the proceeds from the sale of her car, was intended to finance a business she intended to put up.
Police said Kimura and her boyfriend, Oliver de Leon, met in Japan years ago.
At around 8 a.m. Thursday, the two had a bitter argument in Kimura’s house in Barangay Concepcion Dos, Marikina City.
When Kimura went to the bathroom, De Leon allegedly went into Kimura’s room and stole the money.
When she got out of the bathroom, Kimura told police she was surprised that De Leon was gone, along with her money.
Kimura said she managed to trace De Leon to a casino in Binangonan, Rizal, but by the time she got there yesterday morning, De Leon had gambled away all her money.
She reported the theft to the Marikina police and De Leon was arrested. The Marikina police are preparing theft charges against De Leon.
