MANILA, Philippines - The Bureau of Customs (BOC) seized P2.5 million worth of allegedly smuggled dialysis machines included in a consolidated shipment from New York that recently arrived at the Manila International Container Port.

In a statement issued yesterday, the BOC named  LCSN Express Movers as the importer of 20 Fresenius dialysis machines reportedly consigned to Toto Jabonillo in Tagbilaran, Bohol.

The machines were hidden among 400 boxes of personal effects.

The total value of the seized machines was pegged at P2.5 million, including customs duties and taxes.

Meanwhile, BOC officers intercepted 250 grams of methamphetamine hydrochloride or shabu hidden in a toy piano at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport on Wednesday. The toy piano was bound for Saudi Arabia.
