MANILA, Philippines - A baggage dolly hit the right engine of a Philippine Airlines plane parked at the Ninoy Aquino International Airport’s Terminal 2 (NAIA-2) yesterday morning.

The dolly detached from the truck and hit the PAL Airbus 330 parked at NAIA-2’s Bay 19, according to the Manila International Airport Authority (MIAA) media affairs division.

The MIAA identified the baggage dolly driver as Mark Cliford Toledo, a ground handler of Sky Logistics, an airport ground service provider.

Toledo was driving the baggage dolly from Bay 25 to the International Cargo Terminal when the dolly detached from the truck at around 4:30 a.m. and hit the Airbus 330, with registry number RP-C8786.

The aircraft, which was bound for General Santos City, was immediately replaced by another plane. There were no flight delays caused by the accident, the MIAA said.

Sources said the damages will be shouldered by PAL’s insurance while Toledo will be investigated.
