Pakistani held in drug sting
MANILA, Philippines - A Pakistani man was arrested by operatives of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA) in a drug sting along Aguirre Avenue in Parañaque City Tuesday night.
Muhammad Norman, 38, of BF Homes, Parañaque, sold 2,000 tablets of Nitrazepam with an estimated market value of P600,000 to a police officer who posed as a buyer, PDEA information officer Glen Guillermo said.
Guillermo said Nitrazepam, which is a hypnotic drug of the benzodiazepine class, is prohibited in the country.
“Nitrazepam is a dangerous drug, which has sedative and motor-impairing properties,” PDEA regional director Gladys Rosales said.
Norman will be charged with violation of Republic Act 9165 or the Dangerous Drugs Act of 2002. –Robertzon Ramirez, Ric Sapnu
