NAIA on alert for ‘foreign’ mosquitos

MANILA, Philippines - Officials from the Bureau of Quarantine (BOQ) are working to ensure that the Ninoy Aquino International Airport is free from mosquitos that carry dengue and yellow fever from Africa and South America, officials said yesterday.
BOQ laboratory technician Aurelio Deriada Jr. told The STAR he was tasked to set ovicidal and larvicidal traps at arrival area restrooms and “dark places” in the airport terminals. The traps will be replaced every five days.
