BIR shuts down 9 businesses in Tondo
MANILA, Philippines - The Bureau of Internal Revenue (BIR) Revenue Region 6 in Manila padlocked nine business establishments on Santo Cristo street in Tondo, Manila on Thursday for violating the provisions of the National Internal Revenue Code of 1997.
JPC Candy Shoppe Inc., Lorex Bazar Company, Liza Pavon Wong/ADD 1 Enterprise, YUSUN, Inc., Jovito Rios Sia/ZYK Enterprises, Gilbert Sytangco Avila/Evertrix Enterprises, Peter Yau/MKY General Merchandise, Cresencia Ferrer/W.B.T. Pharmacy & General Merchandise and Betty Tan Sy/B.S. Exponent Ville Marketing were found to have underdeclared their taxable sales, according to the BIR.
The orders to close down the shops were signed by Deputy Commissioner Nelson Aspe of the BIR’s Operations Group.
Revenue district officer Petronilo Fernando recommended the closure of the establishments after they failed to comply with requirements specified in the BIR’s 48-hour notice and the five-day value-added tax compliance notice, including their failure to settle their VAT liabilities.
Regional director Araceli Francisco, who chairs the regional review board, concurred with the recommendation.
The closures were made pursuant to the BIR’s Oplan Kandado program under Commissioner Kim Henares.
