Fire razes retired PAF general’s quarters

Jaime Laude - The Philippine Star

MANILA, Philippines - A fire broke out at the Philippine Air Force (PAF) senior officers’ quarters at Villamor Air Base, gutting a unit occupied by a recently retired general before noon yesterday.

Maj. Gen. Edwin Remotigue, former PAF deputy chief of staff for training, retired on Sept. 3. He still had several months left to stay at the unit before he had to turn it over to another officer in need of a housing unit in the PAF’s main headquarters.

PAF spokesman Col. Enrico Canaya said the incident is under investigation.

The fire started at around 11:30 a.m. and was put out two hours later.
