Ex-cop shot dead in Mandaluyong
MANILA, Philippines - A former policeman was gunned down at an alley in Mandaluyong City yesterday.
Carlito Reguiere, 37, died at the scene from three gunshot wounds in the nape and left leg.
According to reports reaching Senior Superintendent Elmer Jamias, Eastern Police District director, Reguiere and a companion visited someone in Barangay Addition Hills and were on their way back to their motorcycle, parked on Ugnayan Road, at around 1:45 a.m. when they were attacked.
The assailant escaped while Reguiere’s companion also disappeared, Jamias said.
Reguiere was formerly a member of the Mandaluyong police Special Weapons and Tactics unit.
He was transferred to the Pasig City police, where he stayed until he was dismissed from the service in 2014, said Senior Superintendent Jose Hidalgo Jr., local police chief.
Senior Superintendent Tyrone Masigon, Mandaluyong City police chief, ordered a deeper probe of Reguiere’s killing and formed a tracker team to identify and arrest the assailant and locate Reguiere’s companion.
